On February 3, Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC - the operator of Metro Line No. 1) said that during the period from the 1st to the 5th day of Tet (from January 29 to February 2), Metro Line No. 1 welcomed 522,839 passengers with a total of 928 trains.
In particular, on the second day of Tet (January 30, 2025), the number of passengers peaked at more than 120,000, forcing the operator to increase the number of trips to meet the increasing travel needs of the people.
In total, during the 10 peak days of Tet (5 days before and 5 days after Tet), Metro Line 1 served more than 761,000 passengers, operated a total of 1,768 trains, with revenue of more than VND 11.7 billion - an average of about VND 1.3 billion/day.
After more than a month of commercial operation, Metro Line 1 has gradually become a popular choice for Ho Chi Minh City residents. This line officially went into operation on December 22, 2024 and has had a month of free tickets to encourage people to experience it.
From January 21, 2025, Metro Line 1 will start charging fees ranging from VND7,000 to VND20,000 per trip if paid in cash. Passengers using non-cash payment methods will enjoy a more preferential price, from VND6,000 to VND19,000 per trip.
In addition to single-ride tickets, Metro Line 1 also offers a variety of monthly ticket options priced at VND300,000 for regular passengers and VND150,000 for students. Unlimited-ride tickets cost VND40,000 per day or VND90,000 for three days.
Some groups such as people with revolutionary contributions, people with disabilities, the elderly and children under 6 years old are completely free when using Metro Line 1.
