Accordingly, the project has a total investment of about 617.262 billion VND, implemented in the 2025-2026 period by the Provincial Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor.
The project aims to urgently overcome the consequences of natural disasters, enhance flood drainage capacity and ensure traffic safety at the Gia Bay bridge location.
After the flood last October, the Design Consulting Center under the Institute of Transport Science and Technology has deployed bridge inspection work. Experts use modern equipment to assess the load-bearing capacity, deformation and safety of the structure, comprehensively assessing each part of the bridge, from beams, piers to abutments.
The inspection results show that the bridge is no longer safe for operation, posing a potential risk to traffic safety if not intervened promptly.
Gia Bay Bridge is a vital route connecting the two banks of the Cau River through the central area of Thai Nguyen province, with high traffic density.
The Department of Construction is assigned to inspect the legal basis, technical standards, cost estimates and all related documents. At the same time, coordinate with departments and branches to ensure that the project complies with regulations on emergency works.
The project will solve three urgent problems: overcoming serious damage to existing bridges due to natural disasters; increasing the ability to drain floodwater on the Cau River, limiting the risk of local flooding and improving handling capacity, meeting traffic needs.
