According to the report of Lang Chanh District People's Committee and the results of the actual inspection, due to the impact of storm No. 3 in 2024 (storm Yagi) and the storm circulation in Lang Chanh district, there was prolonged heavy rain, causing a landslide behind the project "Construction of Lam Phu Secondary School, Lang Chanh district.

About 75m long, about 13m high, completely collapsed the toilet area, flooded the first floor and seriously affected the structure of the 2-storey, 8-room classroom building (pillars were tilted, broken, exposed steel; cracked foundation, walls; high risk of collapse)...

Thanh Hoa province has also just issued a decision to declare an emergency situation for landslides on the slope of the Chinh Cua Dat canal from K6+300 to K6+500 in Phung Giao commune, Ngoc Lac district, affected by storm No. 3 and the floods after the storm.

Due to the impact of the storm and the circulation after storm No. 3, landslides occurred on the right bank of the main canal of the Cua Dat irrigation system from K6+300-K6+500, Hop Thanh village, Phung Giao commune, Ngoc Lac district; the length of the landslide arc is about 150 m, the width is about 100 m; the landslide from elevation (+95.00) m buried rocks and soil into the main canal (canal bank elevation +37.00 m), the volume of landslide rocks and soil is about 150,000 m3, currently filled and blocked the canal passing through this location; there is a risk of affecting households living in Hop Thanh village, Phung Giao commune, especially 4 households/19 people living right on the left bank of the canal (opposite the landslide arc) and people and vehicles participating in traffic along the canal.

Landslides in this area continue to develop in a complex and unpredictable manner, especially when heavy rain occurs.

On the same day, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province also announced an emergency situation of landslides in the area of ​​Nhu Xuan Secondary and High School, Thanh Quan commune, Nhu Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province.

Along with declaring a state of emergency, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province requested districts, towns, communes and related sectors to closely monitor and prepare for the worst possible situations to promptly respond. Be highly vigilant and respond quickly to avoid loss of life and property of the people.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 24 hours, in the mountainous and midland provinces of the North and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue, there has been heavy rain, some places have very heavy rain, combined with the soil moisture model being nearly saturated (over 85%) or reaching a saturated state, so Thanh Hoa is forecasted to be one of the provinces that will suffer great damage and impact due to floods, high risk of landslides, especially in the mountainous districts: Ba Thuoc, Cam Thuy, Lang Chanh, Muong Lat, Ngoc Lac, Nhu Thanh, Nhu Xuan, Quan Hoa, Quan Son, Thach Thanh, Thuong Xuan.
