On October 22, Kon Tum Provincial Inspectorate announced that the unit had announced Decision (No. 112/QD-TTr) dated October 15, 2024 on the inspection of the responsibility for implementing the law on corruption prevention and control at Kon Ray Forestry One Member Co., Ltd., Kon Ray district.
Kon Ray Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. was converted from Kon Ray Agricultural - Industrial and Service Development Investment Company.
This company is responsible for managing and protecting over 29,000 hectares of forest in Kon Ray district. This forest area is mainly distributed in the communes of Dak Koi, Dak Pne, Dak To Lung, Dak Ruong, and Tan Lap.
The company is responsible for afforestation, forest exploitation, agricultural and forestry service activities; construction of civil works, technical works, with total capital and assets assigned by the State by the end of 2023 being over 85 billion VND.
The inspection period is from 2022 to 2023. The inspection period is 45 working days from the date of announcement of the inspection decision.
Previously, the Department of Home Affairs of Kon Tum province reported to the provincial People's Committee on the results of handling and reviewing the officials involved in the case of more than 25 hectares of forest dying due to flooding in the reservoir of the Thuong Kon Tum hydropower plant. This is one of the largest hydropower plants in the Central Highlands provinces.
Among the individuals being disciplined for forest loss are the Deputy Director of Kon Ray Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. and the Head of the Forestry Engineering and Forest Protection Management Department of Kon Ray Protective Forest Management Board.
In 2022, the Kon Tum Provincial Forest Protection Branch initiated a case of forest destruction occurring at the Upper Kon Tum Hydropower Reservoir. The unit then transferred the case to the Kon Tum Provincial Police Investigation Agency.
