The Resolution on renaming villages (hamlets) and residential groups of commune-level administrative units formed after the rearrangement in the province in 2024 was approved by the 19th Nam Dinh Provincial People's Council at the 22nd session.
Accordingly, 180 villages (hamlets) and residential groups of 16 commune-level administrative units formed after the rearrangement in Nam Dinh city and the districts of Hai Hau, Nghia Hung, Xuan Truong, and Giao Thuy will be renamed.


Previously, Nam Dinh province announced the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels for the period 2023 - 2025.
Nam Dinh is one of the first three localities in the country to implement administrative unit restructuring in the 2023-2025 period. The Resolution takes effect from September 1, 2024. After the restructuring, Nam Dinh province has 9 district-level administrative units, including 1 city and 8 districts; 175 commune-level administrative units, including 146 communes, 14 wards and 15 towns.
