On the afternoon of July 30th, in an interview with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Luong Tuan Anh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tua Chua District, Dien Bien Province, said that a landslide had just occurred in the district, resulting in one death. The victim was identified as Mrs. Chang Thi T (born in 1980), residing in Muong Bang Commune, Tua Chua District.
The scene of the landslide occurred at Km5+850, Provincial Road 144, in Muong Bang Commune, Tua Chua District. The initial cause was determined to be due to people climbing down from the fields to the road, causing the upper slope to slide, burying the victim under soil and rocks.
The landslide occurred between 7-8 AM, and it was not until after 10 AM that the family found the victim's body buried under the debris.
Additionally, on the morning of July 30th, in Muong Cha Town, Muong Cha District, one person went missing after being swept away by floodwaters while crossing a stream when the water suddenly rose.
As of now, local authorities and the victim's family are still making efforts to search along the stream but have not yet found the missing person.
Previously, prolonged heavy rain caused a sudden flash flood in Muong Pon Commune, Dien Bien District, resulting in 7 deaths and missing persons. As of the morning of July 30th, 3 people are still missing and their bodies have not been found.
