Time of rain stops, deep cooling begins in the South

HẠ MÂY |

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, this year's rainy season in the region ended in November, with periods of cooling down with the lowest temperature below 20 degrees Celsius.

In the last 3 months of 2024, in the Southern region, the Southwest monsoon is completely replaced by the Northeast monsoon and there is a transition from the rainy season to the dry season.

The 2024 rainy season is not likely to end much later than the average of many years, only about 5-10 days.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the rainy season ends in most areas around early November. However, after the rainy season ends, there will still be widespread unseasonal rains lasting a few days in November-December 2024, including early 2025.

During October, the southwest monsoon weakens, and there will be a few northeast monsoons that tend to strengthen towards the end of the month.

Temperatures tend to decrease gradually. Heavy rain occurs in the first 20 days of the month, and the last days of the month see a gradual decrease in both area and volume of rain due to the strong activity of the Northeast monsoon during this period and its diffusion to the region.

November and December are the months when the Northeast monsoon becomes stronger, the weather is dry but there is still the possibility of days with widespread unseasonal rain with common rainfall ranging from light to moderate.

Cold air diffuses strongly to the South and there are periods of cooling with the lowest temperature below 20 degrees Celsius.

In October, the weather in the area will have scattered rain and showers in many places in the first and middle weeks. Beware of the possibility of 1-2 widespread rains with some places having moderate to heavy rain. Beware of tornadoes, lightning, and gusts of wind during thunderstorms.

During the last 10 days of the month, the area is mainly affected by the southern edge of the continental cold high pressure, so the rain gradually decreases. The total rainfall is approximately equal to and not much higher than the average of many years.

In November, total rainfall was higher than the average of many years due to the late end of the rainy season and after the end, there were still continuous unseasonal rains lasting a few days appearing in the area.

In December, the total monthly rainfall is approximately equal to and higher than the average of many years. The weather is dry but there are still some unseasonal rains with the possibility of moderate rain in some places.

During the period from October to December, cold air continuously strengthens in the region, but the average temperature still tends to be higher than the average of many years.
