From February 18 until further notice, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport will receive applications for issuing and renewing driving licenses according to the groups of subjects.
For car driving licenses, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport will directly receive documents for issuance, renewal (losure) for licenses with a validity of less than 15 days.
People can also carry out the procedure for issuing and renewing car driving licenses through the National Public Service Portal in full online form if the license is valid for less than 15 days.
People can carry out the conversion procedure on the National Public Service Portal in a comprehensive form in provinces and cities across the country.
For motorcycle driving licenses, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport will prioritize the issuance and renewal of licenses for cases of reissuance due to loss or damage to the point of being unusable. The application is received directly after people register via Call Center 1081.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the direct issuance and exchange points will receive and process a maximum of 250 records/day.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport also recommends that people with valid driving licenses can still use them normally. If the license has not expired, it is not necessary to change it to a new class according to the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City still has about 150,000 outstanding driving licenses that need to be issued.
In order to speed up the progress, the staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has increased working hours by 12 hours/day, with a printing capacity of about 4,000 licenses/day.
It is expected that all 150,000 outstanding driving licenses will be resolved before the end of March 2025.
Regarding the transfer of the task of issuing driving licenses from the Department of Transport to the police force, the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that it will coordinate closely to make the transition process go smoothly, without interrupting the issuance and renewal of licenses, ensuring the rights of people and businesses.
