Lao Cai - The National Highway 32C upgrade project, the section from Hien Luong - Yen Bai City (old) is being accelerated to open the route before December 31, 2025.

National Highway 32C upgrade project, with a total cost of over 500 billion VND. In which, construction of phase 1 started in 2012, from Km79 - Km87; Phase 2 started in 2021, from Km87+150 - Km96+500, passing through Au Lau ward (Lao Cai province).

This is a key traffic project, of great significance in connecting the midlands and mountainous areas of the North, contributing to reducing traffic pressure, promoting socio-economic development for the locality.

The project is invested by Lao Cai Province's Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1, the construction unit is Yen Bai Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company.

During the implementation process, the project was slow to construct, interrupted, lasting more than 13 years, with many times having to extend the implementation progress.

Mr. Nong Van Hien - Deputy Head of the Lao Cai Province No. 1 Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that the biggest difficulty in implementing this project is site clearance with a total of 216 households having to be recovered.

Up to now, the entire route still has about 50m that has not been handed over, involving 4 households. The handover of small, unconistent site has affected progress, making it difficult for the contractor to synchronously organize construction teams, machinery and human resources.

On November 28, according to the reporter's records, the construction site is currently focusing on many specialized equipment such as excavators, road rollers, levelers, etc. Nearly 60 vehicles of all kinds have been mobilized to speed up the progress.

At the construction site, machinery is operating busily, vehicles carrying materials in and out are crowded, the sound of excavators and levelers is bustling. Workers are divided into many groups and teams to complete each assigned item.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vuong, Commander of Yen Bai Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company - representative of the contractor, said that to compensate for the slow progress due to the weather, the unit has organized overtime, working day-to-day from morning to night, many days lasting until 8pm - 9pm.

However, it is still difficult to exceed the schedule due to weather conditions. The contractor sets a basic target of completing the road section by December 31.

Mr. Tran Anh - a worker at Yen Bai Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company shared: "We have been at the construction site for more than 2 months, working from 7am to evening. Each team usually has 4 - 7 people, flexible according to the construction volume, trying to complete early to meet the progress set by the investor".
