On November 12, Tri An Hydropower Company announced a reduction in the amount of water released through the spillway to regulate the reservoir.
According to Tri An Hydropower Company, at 9:00 a.m. on November 12, the upstream water level of Tri An Lake was 61.768 m, the water flow to the lake was 1,500 m3/s, the water flow through the spillway was 960 m3/s, the water flow through the power turbine was 776 m3/s.
Based on the decreasing water flow to Tri An Lake and to reduce the impact on downstream, Tri An Hydropower Company reduces the amount of water released to regulate the reservoir.
Accordingly, at 3:00 p.m. on November 12, the water flow through the spillway was reduced to 800m3/s. The water flow through the turbine generates electricity from 460 m3/s to 800 m3/s ( ranging from 240MW to 400MW, depending on the mobilization method of the National Regulations).
The total water flow discharged downstream is from 1,260 m3/s to 1,600 m3/s (depending on the mobilization method of the National Regulations).
Depending on weather developments, water flow to the lake, water level of Tri An Hydropower Reservoir, water level downstream at Bien Hoa hydrological station, the company can flexibly regulate the water flow through the spillway.
Previously, from October 20, Tri An Hydropower Company issued the first spillway to regulate the second phase of Tri An hydropower reservoir and continuously increased the spillway to 960m3/s (November 11).
Tri An Hydropower Plant has 4 generators, with a total designed capacity of 400MW. This is the largest hydropower project in the Southern region, contributing greatly to the national grid, helping to regulate domestic and production water sources, push salinity and regulate floods in downstream areas.
