At about 5:40 a.m. on November 14, people in Phu My Urban Area, Cam Thanh Ward suddenly witnessed tens of thousands of earthworms crawling onto the sidewalk in front of the gate of a residential area of more than 120 hectares, located along National Highway 1.
Some curious residents took their phones to record a strange phenomenon. Some people used water bottles and worm hop sacks to feed cattle and poultry. By noon, the weather was very hot, causing most of the worms to dry up.

Mr. Nguyen Thich - Manager of the Phu My Urban Area Protection Team - said that he has worked in an apartment building for 6 years but this is the first time he has seen such a scene. Giun only appears in the lawns south of the gate of Phu My urban area.
Talking to reporters, Dr. Le Thi My Diep - Permanent Vice President of the Quang Ngai Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment - said that worms breathe through the skin thanks to the amount of air in the craters of land. When it rains heavily, water floods in to reduce oxygen, and worms have to crawl outside to breathe.
Some other reasons why earthworms crawle to the ground more are when they reproduced, the environment is disrupted...
Previously, Quang Ngai had two consecutive floods, followed by storm No. 13, so it is likely that earthworms will " suffocate" and crawl up from the ground.
