HCMC - On August 6, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of HCMC inspected the damage and found a way to fix a bridge swept away by floodwaters in Binh Hoa ward.

According to the report of the Binh Duong Irrigation Sub-Department under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, on the night of August 5, there was heavy rain and wind in Binh Hoa ward.

In the Ong Bo canal area, Binh Hoa ward (formerly Vinh Phu ward, Thuan An city), heavy rain increased the flow.

Bottles and waste were swept away, causing strong pressure, collapsing two pillars and sweeping away the bridge for people at location K0+545 on Ong Bo canal.

The drifted bridge has a structure of a steel surface girder and railing, 1.6m wide, including 3 spans, each span is 15m long. The bridge was swept downstream, about 480m from the original location.

It is known that Ong Bo canal has 4 bridges for people. Previously, in 2023, after a prolonged heavy rain, high water and strong currents swept away 2 bridges in Ong Bo canal, fortunately there were no human casualties. Currently, there is only one residential bridge in this area.

This morning, the authorities and the People's Committee of Binh Hoa Ward inspected the scene of the iron bridge being washed away and a remaining iron bridge on Ong Bo Canal. Currently, the agencies are looking for a solution to handle and rebuild the bridge for people to travel.
