Focus on providing solutions to diversify and create more resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the coming time.

Journalist Tran Vuong: Mr. Nguyen Viet Chuc, how do you evaluate the program and the strong moves of the Government and the Prime Minister in recent times to promote the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses?

Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc: This is a big issue, it is a cultural identity and also the nature of the regime. Because the identity of Vietnamese culture is "love others as you love yourself", "the whole leaf covers the torn leaf" and it is also our long-standing tradition. In our country, housing is extremely important, because it is the family home, everyone must have a house, if there is no house, it is impossible to settle down and make a living.

Obviously, this is a great effort of the entire Party and people in the effort to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. In the past, this issue has been implemented, eliminating thousands of dilapidated houses, but many households still have to live in difficult circumstances.

In the coming time, when our country enters a new era, an era of national development as General Secretary To Lam stated, people cannot live in dilapidated houses. Since then, the Party and State have paid attention to prioritizing the allocation of resources, directing the synchronous implementation of solutions from supporting infrastructure investment, socio-economic development, improving people's living standards and have achieved important results.

The Prime Minister has made a determination to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025 with a 450-day and night campaign in which the whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

Accordingly, in 2025, we must complete 3 tasks: Support housing for people with meritorious services who have difficulty in housing (about 200,000 houses) guaranteed by the state budget; Support housing for people under national target programs (about 88,000 houses); Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for people.

According to local statistics, in addition to two groups of subjects that have been supported according to the state budget and national target program, the whole country has 153,881 temporary houses, dilapidated houses of poor and near -poor households with minimum funding to implement is VND 6,500 billion.

To do this requires a huge amount of financial and human resources. However, when the Party's will is in line with the people's will, no matter how difficult it is, we must overcome it, and if we do it, we will have a successful 2025.

At 2:00 p.m. on December 27, Lao Dong Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group organized a seminar on "Diversifying resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses".

Nationwide, there are about 315,000 households with housing difficulties (including meritorious people, poor households, near-poor households, etc.) that need support to improve their housing to ensure safety and stability so that they can "settle down and have a career", feel secure in working and producing, develop the economy, gradually escape poverty, and contribute to the goal of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and ensuring social security.

To have more resources and do this work well, based on the effective reality of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the past, the Seminar focuses on providing solutions to diversify and create more resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the coming time.

Attending the seminar were guests and experts:

- Member of the 11th National Assembly, Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc - Deputy Head of the Advisory Council on Culture and Society (Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front)

- Doctor of Economics Nguyen Minh Phong - former Head of Economic Research Department, Hanoi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Research

- Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh - economic expert, senior lecturer at the Academy of Finance.

Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses - a major policy of the Party and State is an important social security policy that is being resolutely implemented by the entire political system. However, to achieve the goal of completely eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, there are still many challenges.

In a pioneering role, responding to the Prime Minister's call at the program "Warm home for my people" in early October 2024, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) donated 150 billion VND to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in localities across the country.

It can be seen that in recent times, in addition to production and business activities, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group has actively participated in social security work in many fields across the country.

According to statistics from 2021 to 2023, Petrovietnam and its member units have actively supported the construction of more than 3,100 solidarity houses and houses for the poor across the country, with a total cost of up to 160 billion VND. New, spacious houses have replaced makeshift houses, bringing "peace of mind" to thousands of disadvantaged households.

This is not only material support, but also a symbol of solidarity, care and sharing of the Group with those who still have many difficulties, contributing to helping thousands of poor and near-poor households improve their lives.

As of September 2024, Petrovietnam and its member units have donated VND 113.84 billion to build 2,161 solidarity houses and houses for the poor in many localities (Cao Bang, Gia Lai, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Hai Duong, Tra Vinh, Ca Mau, Yen Bai, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Nghe An, Lam Dong, Hau Giang...).

This activity is even more meaningful in the context of recent natural disasters and floods, causing many people to lose their homes and lack housing.

With the permission of the Government, Petrovietnam has coordinated with local authorities to rebuild the residential area of Kho Vang village, Coc Lau commune, Lao Cai province - an area directly affected and severely damaged by the historic storm No. 3.

Petrovietnam's cooperation not only helps people overcome immediate difficulties, but also creates conditions for them to build a new, more sustainable life.

With the cultural tradition of Petrovietnam, the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, sympathy and sharing with the people of the whole country, in the two years of 2024-2025, the Group and its member units will allocate a social security fund of 138 billion VND to sponsor the construction of 2,760 solidarity houses and houses for the poor.
