On the morning of February 27, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense organized a conference to promote shipbuilding work in 2026.
Implementing assigned tasks, the General Department of National Defense Industry has chaired and coordinated to complete the Overall Plan for deploying the construction of new ships and boats in the period 2026 - 2030 to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
Accordingly, the General Department of National Defense Industry coordinates with relevant agencies and units to research, design, and manufacture many ship lines and specialized equipment of high value, contributing to improving the localization rate and self-reliance capacity in the shipbuilding sector.
Along with that, ship management and use units proactively research and select ship models; hire consultants to prepare pre-feasibility study reports, feasibility study reports; complete design documents and implement investment procedures.
Shipyards actively prepare conditions to ensure production; implement projects to renovate premises and workshops; upgrade technical infrastructure; expand production scale.
Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense - acknowledged and praised the agencies and units for being proactive in researching, designing, and building new ships according to plan.
At the same time, requesting agencies and units to promote capacity, master design and construction technology; synchronously deploy solutions to improve production efficiency, increase capacity and shorten construction time; promote research and application of science and technology to improve product quality.
Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam also requested functional agencies to continue to guide and appraise investment procedures in accordance with regulations; review and implement science and technology tasks with high applicability, suitable to actual conditions and meeting progress requirements.
Units managing and using ships develop specific plans for each item; review equipment needs to summarize and report to competent authorities for consideration and adjustment. Relevant units strengthen research, production and upgrading of technical equipment suitable to task requirements in the new situation.
