These are two key traffic projects planned by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Management Board (Traffic Board - investor) to start construction to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The Nga Tu Dinh intersection project will be upgraded in the direction of building a reinforced concrete overpass running along National Highway 1.
The bridge is over 433m long, of which the main bridge is about 239m long, 17.5m wide with 4 lanes. The designed speed allows vehicles to travel through the bridge up to 80 km/h.
In addition to the overpass, the project also includes a system of service roads on both sides with a total length of about 600m, arranged from 2 to 3 lanes on each side. The branches at the intersection will also be renovated to expand the turning radius, ensuring visibility and traffic safety.
A series of auxiliary items such as drainage systems, lighting, trees and traffic reorganization have also been invested synchronously.
The total investment of the project is about 400 billion VND, of which the construction cost is more than 146 billion VND. The remainder is for site clearance, project management costs and contingency costs.
The project uses a total land area of about 2.52 hectares, mainly uncompensated land (2.36 hectares). The area that needs compensation and site clearance is about 0.15ha, affecting 16 households in the area.
Tu Dinh intersection is an important intersection between National Highway 1 (a vital route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the provinces of the Southeast and the West) and Nguyen Van Qua Street, the gateway connecting the Northwest region.
For many years, this area has often fallen into a state of serious traffic jams, especially during rush hour when a large number of trucks, container trucks, passenger vans and private vehicles flock in from many directions.

Along with the Nga Tu Dinh intersection project, Ho Chi Minh City will also start the Bomb and mine clearance package and relocation of technical infrastructure of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Project on August 19.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Project Phase 1 has a total length of more than 50 km, designed with 4 lanes, maximum operating speed of 120 km/h, with a total investment of more than VND 19,600 billion.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City has allocated more than VND 4,333 billion to carry out compensation and site clearance. It is expected that the payment and handover of the site will take place in the third and fourth quarters of 2025.

After implementing the bomb and mine clearance package and relocating technical infrastructure, the items of residential access roads and overpasses are expected to start construction with budget capital on September 2, 2025.
The main expressway will start construction in January 2026 under the BOT form, with the goal of completion by the end of 2027.
After being put into operation, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway will help reduce pressure on National Highway 22, while shortening travel time between Ho Chi Minh City and Moc Bai International Border Gate (Tay Ninh), an important gateway in trade with Cambodia.
