On February 27, the People's Committee of Binh Thanh District started the project to expand and upgrade Chu Van An Street (from Binh Hoa 5-way intersection to Phan Chu Trinh Street) to improve traffic infrastructure and reduce congestion in this area.
The project has a total length of 600m, expanding the road surface from the current 5 - 6m to 23m, accommodating 4 lanes.
The total investment capital of the project is about 1,067 billion VND, of which the construction cost is nearly 49 billion VND, the remaining more than 1,000 billion VND is for site clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure.
To implement the project, more than 14,000m2 of land has been reclaimed, affecting 166 households, of which 155 households were partially cleared and 11 households were completely cleared.
According to the plan, the project will be completed and opened to traffic in November 2025.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong emphasized that although the upgraded road is only 600m long, it plays an important role in reducing traffic pressure and improving the drainage system of the area. The route is also expected to become an important commercial axis of Binh Thanh District in the future.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong also suggested that the investor and contractor speed up the construction progress from 10 months to 6-8 months due to favorable site conditions. At the same time, Mr. Cuong noted to proactively supply construction materials, especially sand for embankment, to avoid affecting the project's progress.
In addition to expanding Chu Van An Street, Ho Chi Minh City also plans to build an extended Chu Van An section, from the starting point at the existing Chu Van An Street to Dai Liet Si intersection. This route is 200m long, 25m wide, with a total investment of more than VND560 billion and is expected to be implemented in the period of 2025 - 2030.
When completed, the extended section will help vehicles from Ung Van Khiem and Xo Viet Nghe Tinh streets move more conveniently to the Dinh Bo Linh street area without having to go around National Highway 13 or small alleys.
In addition, the 2km long Xo Viet Nghe Tinh route from Hang Xanh to Binh Trieu Bridge, including the section of National Highway 13 passing through Mien Dong Bus Station, is expected to be expanded to 30m. At Dai Liet Si intersection, a roundabout will be built combined with an underpass, with a total investment of about 7,000 billion VND.
At the same time, Dinh Bo Linh Street will also be expanded to 25m on a section of more than 2km long from Pham Van Dong intersection to Dien Bien Phu. At the same time, the city will build a new Binh Trieu Bridge with 6 lanes, with a total investment of about VND2,900 billion.
