Ho Chi Minh City - Metro Line No. 7 connecting from Thu Thiem 4 bridge will go along Bui Thien Ngo street, along To Huu street, instead of going along Tran Bach Dang street as before.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the partial adjustment of the General Plan of Thu Duc City to 2040 in Thu Thiem New Urban Area, in which the direction of Metro Line No. 7 to pass through the city's new Political - Administrative Center is noteworthy.

According to the adjustment decision, the section of Metro Line No. 7 connecting from Thu Thiem 4 bridge will go along Bui Thien Ngo street, along To Huu street (instead of going along Tran Bach Dang street as before), then merge into Tran Nao street. Along with this change, some station locations are also adjusted accordingly.

The directional adjustment of the line is to ensure that Metro Line 7 directly accesses the new Political - Administrative Center of Ho Chi Minh City to be built in Thu Thiem New Urban Area. This central area is 7.84 ha wide, with a facade located along To Huu street, facing Central Square.

According to the previous plan, Metro line No. 7 has a route from Tan Kien station - Nguyen Van Linh - South of Bo bao HTX Phong Phu road - Binh Hung Nam residential area - Dao Su Tich - Ton Dat Tien - Phu My Hung - Huynh Tan Phat - Tran Bach Dang - Tran Nao - Thao Dien - Thanh Da - Truong Tho - Trinh Cong Son (Rach Chiec) - D2 road High-Tech Park - Vinhomes Grand park.

The route has a total length of about 51.23 km, of which 16.5 km is underground and 34.73 km is elevated; it is expected to arrange 34 stations (12 underground stations, 22 elevated stations). The route uses Tan Kien Depot and Long Truong Depot. The section passing through Thu Thiem New Urban Area is expected to have 6 stations.

Recently, a joint venture of investors has proposed to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to allow investment in Metro Line No. 7 under the public-private partnership (PPP) method. The joint venture is committed to completing the investment proposal dossier in June 2026, contributing sufficient equity and mobilizing other legal capital sources to implement the project as approved.

The investor consortium expects the total preparation and implementation time of Metro Line 7 project to be about 42 months, of which the construction time is expected to be 26 months.

Besides Metro Line No. 7, Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem) is also planned to pass through the new Political - Administrative Center.

This route is nearly 6 km long, entirely underground, with a total estimated investment of about 33,000 billion VND. The route direction is to follow Ham Nghi street, cross the Saigon River, then run along Mai Chi Tho avenue to Thu Thiem station.

Notably, the route has 2 underground stations including Vong Cung Avenue station and Children's Palace station adjacent to the construction site of the Political - Administrative Center.
