On March 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that the unit is urgently completing the pre-feasibility study report for the road project connecting Go Dua intersection (Ring Road 2) to the Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway (section through Ho Chi Minh City).
The total investment of the project is expected to be about 3,300 billion VND, of which the cost of site clearance accounts for about 1,660 billion VND.
The project is expected to be approved for investment in April 2025 and start construction in the first quarter of 2026.
This connecting route consists of two main sections, of which the section in Binh Duong (from Ring Road 3 to the Ho Chi Minh City border) is the existing DT.743 route, about 7.15km long, 36 - 43.5m wide. According to the plan, the road surface of this route will be expanded to 60m to synchronize with the expressway. Binh Duong province will invest in this section.

The section in Ho Chi Minh City (from Binh Duong border to Go Dua intersection) is about 1.65km long, with a planned road surface of 60m. The People's Committee of Thu Duc City has updated the planning of this route into the Thu Duc City Master Plan to 2040, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 202/QD-TTg dated January 21, 2025.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, when completed, the route will help connect directly from Ring Road 2 to Ring Road 3, creating favorable conditions for travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Duong and the Southeast provinces.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway is 57km long, with a scale of 6 lanes.
The section through Binh Duong (about 50 km long) invested by the People's Committee of Binh Duong province, started construction in early February 2025 and is expected to be completed in 2027. In the first phase, this route will be built with 4 lanes.
The section through Binh Phuoc (7km long) has been started since December 2024 with a total investment of VND1,474 billion, expected to be completed in 2026.
Currently, vehicles from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Phuoc mainly travel along National Highway 13 with a distance of about 120 km.
When the Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway comes into operation, along with the route connecting Go Dua, the journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Phuoc will be significantly shortened, creating favorable conditions for freight and passenger transport.
