The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued two decisions approving the regulations for the entrance exam and the task of designing the architectural design of Binh Tien bridge and road (from Pham Van Chi street to Nguyen Van Linh street).
The Binh Tien road bridge is about 3.66 km long, starting at the intersection of Binh Tien - Pham Van Chi road (formerly District 6, now Binh Tien ward) and ending at the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh road (formerly Binh Chanh district, now Binh Hung commune).
Binh Tien Bridge and Road consists of two main parts. The elevated overpass is about 3.1 km long, 4 to 6 lanes wide, starting from Pham Van Chi Street, crossing Tau Hu Canal, running elevately through Phu Dinh Ward, crossing Doi Canal, then continuing to cross Nguyen Van Linh Street to connect with the road connecting National Highway 50.
Below is a parallel road with 2 to 6 lanes. The total land use demand for the entire project is estimated at about 22.46 hectares.
The total prize value of the contest is 300 million VND, of which the first prize is worth 150 million VND, the second prize is 100 million VND and the third prize is 50 million VND.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requires the architectural design plan to ensure optimization, compliance with the approved planning and harmony with urban space. The project's embankment in all directions must be studied synchronously, paying special attention to the sections over Vo Van Kiet Street, Doi Canal and Nguyen Van Linh Street.
Regarding traffic organization, Binh Tien Bridge and Road needs to ensure smooth traffic, minimize traffic conflict points, and ensure safety for all vehicles participating in traffic.
The organization of lanes must be clear, separating types of vehicles, and at the same time not negatively affecting traffic on existing routes in the area.
The total investment capital for the Binh Tien bridge and road project is nearly 6,300 billion VND, using Ho Chi Minh City's budget. Of which, more than VND 3,369 billion is spent on compensation and site clearance; construction and installation costs are about VND 2,915 billion.
According to the plan, the project's feasibility study report will be submitted to competent authorities for approval in the third quarter of 2025. The project is expected to start construction in 2026 and be completed in 2028.
Binh Tien Bridge and Road is expected to form a new traffic axis, playing the role of a focal route, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with the South Saigon urban area, the urban area - Hiep Phuoc port.
The project also directly connects with Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4, enhancing regional connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces.
