On March 13, Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that he will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for phase 3 of the My Thuy intersection project tomorrow morning (March 14).
This phase includes the construction of an overpass on Ring Road 2 ( Vo Chi Cong Street) - the right branch with a scale of 4 lanes, and the construction of Ky Ha 3 Bridge (right branch) with the same scale of 4 lanes.
The items in phase 3 have an investment of VND 312 billion, expected to be completed in April 2026.
The My Thuy intersection project is designed with three floors and has been implemented since 2016, with a total investment of about VND 1,826 billion for the construction project.
The project has completed some items in phases 1 and 2, and put into operation from 2019 to 2021. The completed items include: Ky Ha 3 Bridge (left branch); left underpass from Ring Road 2 to Cat Lai Port; overpass on Ring Road 2 (left branch); My Thuy 3 Bridge.
From the end of 2023, projects such as the left overpass from Cat Lai to Phu My and Ky Ha 4 bridge will also be implemented. However, the project's progress is still facing many difficulties due to the completion of site clearance.
Component project 2 related to compensation, site clearance and resettlement has a total investment of 1,623 billion VND, managed by the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The project needs to clear the land on an area of 16.6 hectares, affecting 195 households. However, by the end of January 2025, Thu Duc City had only handed over 9/195 cases, affecting the overall progress.
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board recommends that the Thu Duc City People's Committee urgently complete site clearance work, ensuring the handover of 100% of the site before April 30, 2025 for construction of the remaining items.
According to Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, the entire My Thuy intersection project will be completed by April 30, 2026.
The completion of My Thuy intersection along with key infrastructure projects such as the expansion of Nguyen Thi Dinh, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Luong Dinh Cua streets, the Cat Lai - Phu Huu port inter-line, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, An Phu intersection, Tang Long bridge, Ong Nhieu bridge... are expected to contribute to reducing traffic congestion in the Cat Lai port area and the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, these projects also help improve the capacity of freight transport, increase the competitiveness of the Cat Lai - Phu Huu port cluster, facilitate people's travel, urban beautification and promote the urbanization of Thu Duc City.
