The project to renovate and upgrade the traffic route connecting National Highway 32 with National Highway 70B of Phu Tho province to Hoa Binh province has a total investment of 164 billion VND, and is being constructed in Thanh Son district, but the investor is the People's Committee of Thanh Thuy district.
In early 2025, on the project route, according to the reporter's records, basically, the entire route has been opened to traffic, people can travel conveniently. There are only a few locations that cannot be paved due to land clearance problems.
On the road, the traffic was bustling with vehicles going up and down. In particular, trucks carrying goods for the Lunar New Year market were also bustling up the mountain. The trading and exchange of goods between the two provinces of Phu Tho and Hoa Binh became busier than ever.
Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Nga (a resident of Tinh Nhue commune, Thanh Son district) said: "In the past, transporting goods from Phu Tho to Hoa Binh or vice versa was not easy, many roads were bad and very bumpy. Now that there is a new road, traveling is much more convenient."
Mr. Le Van Phuc, a homestay owner at a tourist area along Highway 32, commented: “Previously, tourists were often hesitant to come because of the bad road. But with the new route, we have welcomed a significant increase in visitors, especially during holidays.”
One of the biggest highlights of the project is ensuring traffic safety for people when Ngoi Lat bridge with a total investment of more than 12 billion VND, 75m long, 10m wide, has been opened to traffic, replacing Luong Nha bridge on Provincial Road 317 connecting Hoa Binh province with Phu Tho which has seriously degraded.
"Without Ngoi Lat bridge, trucks weighing over 10 tons would have to take a detour of dozens of kilometers to get to Thanh Thuy district," said Nguyen Van Long, a truck driver.
On January 4, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh - Director of the Thanh Thuy District Construction Investment Project Management Board - representing the Investor - said that the project to renovate and upgrade the traffic route connecting National Highway 32 with National Highway 70B of Phu Tho province to Hoa Binh province has so far been about 97% completed.
According to the unit leader, the project currently only has a few unfinished items such as street lights, traffic signs and road markings.
Along with that, the project route has about 500m in length, although the roadbed has been compacted and gravel has been spread, the road surface cannot be paved because there are still 4 locations that cannot be cleared.
In addition, there are still 16 households subject to resettlement who have not agreed to the relocation plan, making the road unable to be fully completed.
"We have tried to persuade the households many times. However, if they do not agree, according to the Thanh Son District People's Committee, the government will enforce and protect the construction to ensure the progress of the road. The investor and the construction unit will try to complete this road in the first quarter of 2025" - the investor representative shared.
According to the leader of the Thanh Thuy District Investment and Construction Project Management Board, when completed, this route will connect with the traffic route connecting National Highway 32 with National Highway 70B of Phu Tho province, which was previously completed with a length of more than 30km, opening up development opportunities for the western districts of the homeland.
In particular, the new route opens up opportunities to connect tourist destinations in Phu Tho and Hoa Binh, especially ecological areas and hot mineral springs.
