According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 24 to 48 hours, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with total rainfall generally 80-130mm, some places over 130mm. High tides are warned to exceed historical levels, peaking at about 1.9m in the coming days.
In response to this development, on November 6, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) said it had implemented a plan to increase forces on deeply flooded roads and areas with frequent traffic jams to guide, direct traffic, and ensure traffic safety.
Traffic police are on duty at key checkpoints, supporting people to move through flooded areas, bringing paralyzed vehicles out of the danger zone; at the same time, coordinate with local police, youth volunteers and functional forces to carry out rescue when necessary.
On waterways, traffic police are deployed with forces on duty 24/7, preparing boats, life buoys and continuously patrolling at points at risk of tornadoes, strong water or landslides to warn people. Vehicle owners are also reminded to comply with safety regulations and wear life jackets when moving.
The Traffic Police Department coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction to survey and install barriers and warning signs at heavily flooded areas, and at the same time inspect the drainage system to promptly handle and avoid deep flooding and congestion.
The authorities recommend that people monitor weather and traffic information before going out; proactively choose a suitable route, avoid going into areas with deep flooding, risk of landslides or strong water flows. If there is heavy rain, thunderstorms, or lightning, people should limit going out to ensure the safety of their lives and property.
