On November 19, the Department of Information and Communications of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province informed that the locality is implementing the work of rearranging district-level administrative units according to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee that has just been passed.
Currently, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has 8 district-level administrative units, with 82 commune-level administrative units. After implementing the arrangement according to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the province will have changes in the number and boundaries of district and commune-level administrative units.
According to the resolution, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province will establish Long Dat district with an area of 267.42 square kilometers and a population of 241,501 people, on the basis of merging the entire current Long Dien district and Dat Do district.
The newly established district is located adjacent to Xuyen Moc district, Chau Duc, Ba Ria city and the East Sea.
At the same time, a number of communes in Dat Do and Long Dien districts will be merged. After establishment, Long Dat district will have a total of 11 commune-level units (including 7 communes and 4 towns).
In addition, the Long Dien District People's Court and the Dat Do District People's Court will be dissolved; the Long Dien District People's Procuracy and the Dat Do District People's Procuracy will be dissolved. On that basis, the Long Dat District People's Court and the Long Dat District People's Procuracy will be established, inheriting the tasks and powers of the dissolved units according to regulations.
The Resolution takes effect from January 1, 2025. From the effective date of the Resolution, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province will have only 7 district-level administrative units (4 districts, 1 town, 2 cities); with 77 commune-level administrative units (42 communes, 28 wards and 7 towns).
