On the afternoon of January 20, Mr. Tra Thanh Danh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City informed that in Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai City, a homemade firecracker explosion had just occurred, killing a student.
Specifically, at around 2:45 p.m. on January 20, a firecracker explosion occurred at the house of Mr. Do Van Duong, residing in Khe Hiep hamlet, My Lai village, Tinh Khe commune. Immediately afterwards, local people discovered that D.M.A. (18 years old, Mr. Duong's son) was injured and took him to the hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, A. died on the way to the emergency room.
"According to initial verification by authorities, the incident occurred while the victim was making fireworks at home," said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City.
