Cam Pha Thermal Power Company, under the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), has just announced the auction of a batch of assets such as as ashes and slag on the company's slag storage site near the ash and slag plant, Cam Thinh ward, Cam Pha city, Quang Ninh province.
The total estimated volume is 800,000 tons, of which bottom ash: 300,000 tons and flying ash: 500,000 tons. The starting price of the auctioned assets is VND 4,079,000,000.
This is the second time the ashes of Cam Pha Thermal Power Plant have been auctioned, earning billions of dong. Meanwhile, just a few years ago, the ashes of the factory were a nightmare for the environment and surrounding landscape, with high ashes and ashes dumps spreading dusty dust everywhere.
At that time, ashes and slag were still considered toxic waste, so even if the market wanted to buy and sell, it was not allowed. However, after being allowed and encouraged to use, this item is often sought after due to high demand.
In 2024, about 1,000,000 tons of ash and slag at the slag storage facility of Mao Khe Thermal Power Plant, Dong Trieu City, Quang Ninh Province will have a starting price of 6.5 billion VND, purchased immediately after the auction began.
According to representatives of some thermal power plants, the revenue from selling asphalt is only a part, and the key is to solve the problem of factory waste output.
TKV Power Corporation currently has 5 thermal power plants, in Quang Ninh province alone, there are 2 plants, Cam Pha Thermal Power and Dong Trieu Thermal Power.
According to a representative of TKV Power Corporation, in 2023, the volume of fly ash and bottom ash sold was 512,000 tons/1,871,000 tons issued during the production process and 525,000 tons/1,222,000 tons issued during the production process, respectively.
In 2024, the volume of ashes sold will increase, with 989,000 tons of ashes sold for/179,500,000 tons of emissions and 123,000 tons of bottom ash/1442,000 tons of emissions.
Thus, the amount of ash and slag consumed is gradually approaching the amount of ash and slag emitted during the production process.

According to reports from authorities, the volume of ash and heat-isex consumption nationwide has tended to increase gradually in recent years and gradually approach the emission level.
Accordingly, the amount of ash and slag consumed in 2019 was 50%; in 2020 was 60%; in 2021 was 87% and in 2022 was 105.7%. In 2023 alone, the amount of ashes and slag consumed nationwide will reach more than 18.01 million tons, equivalent to 99.6% of total emissions in the year.
