On October 13, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan inspected the construction progress of the monument cluster and surveyed the preparations for the live television program celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Northward Gathering Train in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district.
The Monument Complex of the Train Gathering to the North in Ca Mau has a total area of 10.8 hectares, with an investment of over 176 billion VND from the provincial budget. The construction project is more than 20 meters from the southern bank of Ong Doc River (Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province).
The project includes many items such as: Monument; monument area floor; event area floor; overpass to the monument area and connecting to the road along the embankment; traffic road connecting to the monument; parking lot; technical infrastructure system... invested by the Ca Mau Traffic Construction Project Management Board.
The construction site is outside the Song Doc estuary, so in order for the project to be successfully implemented, the investor, design consultants, supervision consultants, and construction contractors must have solutions to implement the project to ensure safety: Safety during construction, safety on inland waterways, safety in unfavorable weather conditions...
According to the investor, because the project is located right at the river mouth, gathering materials is difficult, especially in the current weather. However, the units are speeding up the progress to put it into use this November.
The 1954 Northward Train Reunification Monument was designed by Sculptor Tran Thanh Tung with a stylized image of a 25 m long, 10.5 m high, 8.5 m wide train, made of granite. Along with that are the stylized reliefs on both sides of the train body. The floor of the monument area was built with an area of about 800 m2; the floor of the event area is about 1,200 m2.
In addition, the viaduct leading to the monument and connecting to the road along the embankment is designed to be about 642.8 m long; the traffic road connecting to the monument is about 385 m long; the parking lot with a construction area of about 3,370 m2 and the technical infrastructure system serving the general activities of the monument. The total investment of the project is over 176 billion VND.
This is a large-scale project, aiming to recreate the 1954 regrouping event. After the Geneva Agreement was signed, the regrouping train brought cadres, soldiers, and students from the South to the North to work, study, and build a solid rear, moving towards the complete liberation of the South and national reunification.
According to the plan, the live event program will take place at 3 locations: Ca Mau, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, broadcast live on VTV1, at 20:10 on November 26, 2024, rebroadcast on local radio and television stations and on digital platforms. The number of viewers at each location is expected to be from 2,000 - 3,000 people.
At the inspection, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan directed to complete the project on schedule. Any matter beyond the authority must be reported immediately to the Provincial People's Committee for timely resolution because this is a very important project.
