According to Lao Dong on August 6, in an alley on Provincial Road 43, Tam Binh Ward (formerly in Thu Duc City), the water was still deeply flooded after a heavy rain on the evening of August 5.


Outside, furniture, household items, and books were brought out by people and dried along both sides of the path, many dishes were damaged by being soaked in water all night. In the alley, adults waded through water to clean the house, children sat convulsingly on high chairs.
People said that they had to stay up all night, many people with hammocks outside lay up all night.

Notably, in the rain on the evening of August 5, a wall of a rented room in this area suddenly collapsed. Mr. Do Van Lanh (55 years old, living in Tam Binh ward) recounted that while he was in the house moving furniture, the wall on the side suddenly collapsed.
"I panicked, swam out quickly, had scratches on my hand but luckily escaped," said Mr. Lanh.

Many families were flooded up to the beds, and their property was floating in their homes. Items such as plastic cabinets, pots, rice cookers, electric fans... were floating, many items were damaged.


According to the residents, this alley is located in a low-lying area, so it is flooded every time there is heavy rain, but the water has never risen as quickly and strongly as last night. People hope that the local government will soon have a solution to renovate the drainage system, supporting people to stabilize their lives.
On the same day, Tam Binh Ward People's Committee said that it had mobilized water pumps and forces to support people in cleaning up, fixing the problem and recording the damage.



According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the heavy rain on the evening of August 5, measured at Di An station at 69 mm, Thuan An at 69.2 mm, Thu Duc at 53.4 mm, caused many areas in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong to be flooded and congested for a long time.
