The road of suffering
According to the reflection of many people in Thuong Ninh and Nhu Xuan communes, Thanh Hoa province, in the past time they have had to live in misery because the construction road is unfinished, muddy, with many potholes. The route is about 10km long, part of the project to build a traffic road from Yen Cat inner city to the old Cat Van commune (now the route from Nhu Xuan commune to Thuong Ninh commune), which was implemented nearly 2 years ago.
Ms. Le Thi Thuy (born in 1959, residing in Cat Loi village, Thuong Ninh commune) said that when the construction unit started to build the road, most of the households living along the route were excited, hoping the road would be completed soon so that travel would be less difficult. However, for a long time, the construction was unfinished, causing the road to become muddy, full of potholes.
Similar to Ms. Thuy, Mr. Nguyen Ba Truc (residing in Thuong Ninh commune) said that he had to travel many times a day through this route and every time he was "afraid".
"On sunny days it is dusty, on rainy days it is muddy, just a carelessness can make you fall at any time. On rainy days, the mud is thick, when taking and picking up children to school, everyone has to carry and search every little thing to avoid falling, the most miserable of which is the children" - Mr. Truc said.
The prolonged construction situation has greatly affected travel and life, many people have "cried help" to the authorities and authorities, but so far, the matter has not been completely resolved.
Requesting contractors to speed up construction
The actual records of Lao Dong Newspaper's reporters show that there are many damaged sections, potholes, and deep ditches on the route.
It is known that the above road project has a total investment of 90 billion VND, of which the provincial budget supports 81 billion VND, the remaining 9 billion VND is the local counterpart capital for compensation and site clearance.
Previously, the project was invested by the Nhu Xuan Construction Investment Project Management Board, now assigned to the People's Committee of Nhu Xuan commune. The construction units of the above route include IDI Joint Stock Company and Thanh Hoa Traffic Construction Company 1.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the People's Committee of Nhu Xuan commune said that the prolonged stormy weather has greatly affected the construction progress. Immediately after the people's reflection, the locality met with relevant units and issued documents requesting contractors to urgently implement.
"The weather is now dry, the construction unit is speeding up the progress and has completed a long section. The workload is still large, so it is expected that the road will not be completed in 2025. If all goes well, the project can be completed by the first quarter of 2026" - said a representative of the People's Committee of Nhu Xuan commune.
