Voters of Duong Hoa commune sent a question to the Hanoi City Electronic Information Portal: "The project to renovate the Day River waterway through Duong Hoa commune was dredged in 2013 and 2014, but up to now, waste and sand have been clogged, causing pollution and foul odors affecting people's lives.
Request the City People's Committee to continue directing the dredging of the Day River to ensure environmental hygiene".
Responding to voters' requests, the Hanoi People's Committee said that during the dry season, the Day River has almost no flow, the riverbed is silted up, causing congestion, obstructing the flow, combined with domestic wastewater, craft villages, and untreated industrial clusters that have not been treated, causing water pollution directly into the river, affecting the daily life of people living on both sides of the Day River (including the residential area of Duong Hoa commune).
To improve the quality of the Day River water source, the Hanoi People's Committee said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) has implemented the Project of Dredging and renovating the Day River water channel according to Decision No. 3740/QD-BNN-TL dated November 27, 2008.
The project consists of 2 phases: Phase 1 from Day dam K0+00 in the old Phuc Tho district to K8+700 (adjacent to Thang Long Avenue bridge and road) in the old Hoai Duc district with a length of about 8.8 km was completed in the period 2011-2015.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has proposed a project to dredge the Day River from Yen Nghia to Ba Tha in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026-2030.
Implementing the Flood and Dyke Prevention Plan for the Day River system approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1821/QD-TTg dated October 7, 2014, including proposing solutions to supply water from the Tich River to the Day River through the San Thuy Duc drainage canal system with a flow rate of 20 m3/s, the City People's Committee will assign relevant agencies and units to study and advise on the implementation of the above projects to reduce water pollution of the Day River in the coming time when the city has balanced its budget.
