Fire prevention and fighting on Phu Quoc forest during Tet

Kien Giang - Secretary of Phu Quoc City Party Committee highly appreciated the working spirit of cadres and civil servants at units on duty to prevent and fight forest fires.

Recently, Phu Quoc City Party Secretary Le Quoc Anh and a working delegation inspected forest fire prevention and fighting (PCCC) on duty during the Lunar New Year 2025. The delegation visited the City Forest Ranger Department, Phu Quoc National Park and forest protection posts and camps in the area.

At the units visited, Phu Quoc City Party Secretary Le Quoc Anh sent his regards, encouragement, gifts and New Year wishes to the cadres and civil servants working at the units. During the on-site inspection, Mr. Le Quoc Anh highly appreciated the working spirit of the cadres and civil servants at the forest fire prevention and fighting units. The forces on duty did not fear difficulties, day and night, actively patrolled, guarded, prevented and handled illegal forest encroachments, contributing to the good performance of the task of forest management and protection in the area.

At the same time, remind the forces on duty at the units to not forget their duties during the New Year, always uphold their roles and sense of responsibility, and not be negligent. It is necessary to strictly protect the existing forest area in the assigned management area, effectively implement forest fire prevention measures, and minimize the number of incidents and damage caused by forest fires.

Mr. Le Quoc Anh emphasized: “To ensure the preservation of 65% (about more than 38,000 hectares of forest), the forces still have a lot of work to do. The City Party Committee is very concerned and believes that the forces will make responsible efforts to continue to fulfill the task of protecting and preserving Phu Quoc forests.”

Before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, units must do a good job of propaganda, maintain duty, patrol and guard regimes and strengthen strict management of people entering and leaving the forest, ensuring safety in preventing forest fires, especially during the peak of the dry season this year.

According to Kien Giang Forest Protection Department, currently in Phu Quoc City, the risk of forest fire is at level 4 in the communes of Bai Thom, Ganh Dau, Cua Duong, Ham Ninh, Cua Can, this area is mainly in special-use forests, protective forests. An Thoi Ward, Duong To Commune is warned at level 3 (prone to forest fire).
