Regarding the application and assurance of radiation and nuclear safety, Ninh Thuan province stipulates that the Department of Science and Technology will organize the implementation of plans, programs, projects and measures to promote the application of radiation and radioactive synchronization to serve socio-economic development.
In addition, the Department also manages environmental radioactive monitoring activities in the area; coordinates the management of development activities, application of nuclear energy; manages public service activities in the fields of nuclear energy, radiation safety and nuclear.
Ninh Thuan province also stipulates the Department of Science and Technology to manage and carry out the reception of declarations, safety appraisal, licensing, amending, supplementing, extending, and re-issuing licenses to conduct radiation work using diagnostic X-ray equipment in health; granting radiation staff certificates to safety managers at medical diagnostic X-ray facilities operating in the province.
Preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to conduct inspections and examinations of compliance with legal regulations on radiation and nuclear safety under their management and handling of violations according to their authority.

Striving to complete Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant before 2032
The Ninh Thuan nuclear power project consists of 2 plants, each plant consists of 2 generators. Ninh Thuan 1 factory is located in Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district. Ninh Thuan 2 factory is located in Vinh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district.
In February 2025, the Government Office issued a Conclusion Notice of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Second Meeting of the Steering Committee for the Construction of the Nuclear Power Plant.
Regarding the implementation of the projects, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the Government Office and relevant ministries and agencies to report to competent authorities to assign Vietnam Electricity Group to implement the investment in the Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power plant project and the National Energy Industry Group to implement the investment in the Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plant project.
Set a goal of striving to complete the investment and construction work before December 31, 2030, no later than December 31, 2031, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the 85th anniversary of the founding of the country.
Regarding mechanisms and policies to implement the project, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to, based on their assigned functions and tasks, study and propose mechanisms and policies to create favorable conditions and implement as quickly as possible on issues such as site clearance, resettlement, stabilizing people's lives, financial mechanisms, capital arrangement, contractor selection... to shorten the implementation time of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant project.
