Preferential capital for people in border areas
Buon Don is one of the districts with a high poverty rate in Dak Lak province. Through review, Buon Don district has 5,312 poor households with 21,959 people (accounting for 29.98%), near-poor households 2,486 households with 10,059 people (accounting for 14.03%).
Most of Buon Don people are farmers, and their lives are still difficult. Therefore, they are in great need of capital to organize production and develop the economy.
Understanding the urgent needs of the people, in recent years, many poor households have accessed preferential capital through various programs.
For example, Ms. Hoang Thi Hong, in Buon Don district, was able to access a loan of 20 million VND from the Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Program to drill a well.
Ms. Hong's family has 6 sao of land. Due to the harsh, hot weather in the border area, especially in the dry season, organizing production is very difficult.
Her family had to depend almost entirely on rainwater, so their economic situation was quite unstable. Since having a well, the family's production and irrigation have become much more convenient.
After repaying the first loan on time, Ms. Hong continued to borrow another 50 million VND from the Preferential Loan Program for the Poor. With this capital, Ms. Hong bought breeding goats to develop livestock farming. Up to now, the goats have reproduced, helping the family have a stable source of income.
Similarly, the family of Mrs. Nong Thi Phuong, in Buon Don district, borrowed 50 million VND from the social policy bank to invest in pepper and coffee production, pig and chicken farming, fish farming, etc. Thanks to that, her family has now escaped poverty.
Simple and convenient loan procedures
According to the report of the People's Committee of Buon Don district (Dak Lak), in the first 9 months of 2024, the social policy bank has provided loans to 571 poor households, with a cost of more than 33.5 billion VND; 272 near-poor households have provided loans with a cost of 16.4 billion VND; 95 newly escaped poverty households have provided loans with a cost of nearly 6 billion VND.
Loans for the poor have truly reached the majority of the poor, especially ethnic minorities and people in remote areas.
The loan procedures and capital recovery are simple and convenient, creating conditions for poor households to access loans to reduce poverty; in terms of expanded lending subjects, in addition to poor households, many other subjects have also been supported with loans such as: students, labor export, job creation...
Most of the households that borrowed capital used it effectively, for the right purpose, and paid the principal and interest on time. This has created many jobs, created income, improved the lives of households, and contributed positively to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security.
Mr. Le Thanh Son, Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Buon Don district (Dak Lak), said that thanks to access to support policies, many poor and near-poor households in the district have proactively organized production and their lives have increasingly improved.
In the coming time, the locality will continue to implement the State's programs and policies to the people, ensuring the right beneficiaries and effectively promoting resources.
