On the evening of December 9, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said it had clarified many important details related to the particularly serious accident on the Da Nang - Quang Ngai highway, through Tam Xuan commune (Da Nang city), causing 4 deaths and 7 serious injuries.
According to initial verification results, driver Pham Van Kieu - the driver of the 16-seat passenger bus, drove continuously for 5 hours, exceeding the permitted time according to regulations. Kieu's journey started from Duc Trong Lam Dong commune, moved through Khanh Hoa and had an accident when entering the highway.


Notably, both the driver and passengers on the bus were not wearing seat belts. Strong force during the accident caused 3 people on the bus to die on the spot; another person died at the hospital due to multiple injuries.
The results of the police's rapid test showed that container truck driver Bui Manh Thang (born in 1982, Hai Phong) - the driver of the vehicle hit by a passenger car from behind - tested positive for drugs.
Previously, in the early morning of December 9, a 16-seat passenger car driven by Kieu driver, carrying 12 people, was traveling in the South - North direction. When arriving at Tam Xuan commune, the car suddenly hit the back of a container traveling in the same direction. All victims were from the same family, including the bride and groom who were on their way back to their hometown in Ninh Binh after a wedding in Lam Dong.

A survivor recounted in shock: "People had just finished attending a wedding party, got in the car to go back to their hometown when they suddenly heard a very strong collision. Everyone panicked, many people were unconscious.
According to doctors at Quang Nam General Hospital, out of 10 patients brought in, 2 people were slightly injured and were not hospitalized; the remaining 8 cases were treated for on-site emergency care. The victim Tran Thi Vinh (born in 1974) suffered multiple serious injuries. Although she was resuscitated and had emergency surgery, she did not survive.
The remaining 7 patients have 3 people with serious injuries requiring surgery, the remaining 4 people are injured at a lighter level. Everything is past the critical stage.
