Cutting hills and mountains to build a 300 billion VND road in Yen Bai

Dozens of workers and machines are working hard to bring the route connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street to Au Co Street (Yen Bai City) to the finish line on schedule.

The route is about 4.2km long, constructed by a consortium of Nam Phong Investment, Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, Yen Bai Traffic Construction Joint Stock Company and Thanh Trung Construction and Trading Company Limited, with a total investment of nearly 300 billion VND. Construction started in December 2022 and is expected to be completed in April 2025.

According to Lao Dong's report on October 5, under the scorching sun, at the construction site of the road connecting Nguyen Tat Thanh Street to Au Co Street, dozens of workers and many heavy machines are still working hard to bring the project on schedule.

Ms. Tran Hong Hanh (32 years old, Tan Thinh, Yen Bai city) said that people have high expectations for this road to be completed soon.

"First, the route will make my family and I's travel much more convenient. At the same time, this new road will significantly shorten travel time from home to the city center," said Ms. Hanh.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Doan Van Hai - project manager said that according to the contract, the route is expected to be completed in April 2025.

"The unit is striving to take advantage of favorable weather to pave the entire road surface by December 2024. Currently, the total completed work volume has reached more than 60%," said Mr. Hai.

According to Director of Nam Phong Construction Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company Tuong Duc Cuong, the construction site of the road mostly passes through mountainous terrain.

"The route is 4.2km long, but more than 3km of it had to be cut through mountains and hills for construction. Despite the difficult terrain, with the spirit of completing the project on schedule, the team of officers and workers at the construction site are always enthusiastic about their work," Mr. Cuong shared.

According to research, the project to comprehensively develop dynamic urban areas has been implemented in Yen Bai City since 2019 with a total investment of 63.27 million USD, equivalent to more than 1,423 billion VND. Of which, the loan capital from the World Bank (WB) is 39.46 million USD, equivalent to 888 billion VND and domestic counterpart capital is 23.81 million USD, equivalent to 535 billion VND.

The road connecting Au Co Street and Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is a sub-project of Yen Bai City.
