"Having a stable place to live, better sleep at night"
In Cam Giang town (Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province), the excitement spread in residential areas when many poor households have been moving to new houses - much more spacious, solid and cozy than before.
In Dinh Giac hamlet (Thach Loi area, Cam Giang town, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province), the new house of Mr. Nguyen Huy Long - who is 95 years old this year and participated in two resistance wars against France and the US - was completed after more than 20 days of construction. The old house was previously peeling with lime, the corrugated iron roof was dilapidated, and water flowed into the stream during the rainy season.
Thanks to the support program, he was able to rebuild a 33m2 level 4 house with a sturdy steel frame, ceramic tile floor, heat-resistant corrugated iron roof, safe iron doors, and a full electricity and water system.
Sitting on a new bed next to a window, Mr. Long emotionally shared: "I'm old, I just hope to have a place to take shelter from the sun and rain. The previous day, it was leaking rain and very cold. Now that I have a new house, I feel very happy and secure. I never thought that at this age, I would be able to live in such a spacious house.
Not far away is the house of Mr. Tran Van Dao. His family is a poor household, he is in poor health, slow, his wife died early, and his children have left to work far away. Mr. Dao lives in an old, dilapidated house with cracked walls and low roofs, at risk of collapsing at any time. With the support of the program, the new house was built more solidly, with brick tiles inside and sturdy iron doors.

Although he could not speak clearly, Mr. Dao still smiled gently when asked about his feelings when receiving the new house: "The old house is wet and scared when it rains. Now that I have a new house, I am very happy, no longer afraid of anything. Having a stable place to live, sleeping better at night".
I hope to live in a new house every day
In Kinh Nguyen area (Cam Giang town, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province), Mr. Trinh Ngoc Kien (born in 1968), a member of a sustainable poor household, is eagerly waiting for the day the new house is completed. He lived alone, had poor health, and had no stable job. Previously, he lived with his elderly mother in a dilapidated house. When his mother passed away, he continued to live alone in a temporary house with a dirt floor, leaky roof, and a kitchen corner to worship his mother's photos.
Seeing the new walls being built, Mr. Kien choked up: "I have nothing in hand, now that the State and the government have helped build a house, I am very grateful. Seeing the house gradually being completed, I was very happy, hoping to move in every day".

According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung - Chairman of Cam Giang Town People's Committee, identifying this as an important and practical task, in order to support people to stabilize their lives, from the beginning of the year, the town has carefully reviewed households in temporary and dilapidated houses, thereby implementing support for construction and repair. The implementation process ensures publicity, transparency, and the right subjects.
In the coming time, Cam Giang town will continue to coordinate with organizations to speed up the construction progress, striving to complete the remaining houses as soon as possible.
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is one of the major goals of Hai Duong province in 2025. The new houses are not only a shelter from the rain and sun, but also a new beginning for the less fortunate - a place where they can settle down, thereby feeling secure in doing business, rising out of poverty.
The radiant eyes and smiles in the new houses are vivid evidence of the effectiveness of this correct and humane policy.
