Tet is full of new houses
These days, across the Khmer people in Soc Trang province - where the Khmer community accounts for over 30% of the province's population - is bustling in the atmosphere of celebrating the traditional Tet holiday. This year, that joy was multiplied when thousands of Khmer households were difficult to celebrate Tet in new solid and full -hearted houses.
Tran Thi My Xuyen's family in My Thuan commune (My Tu district) could not hide emotion when the new house had just been completed before Tet. "My family's biggest dream about a solid house has come true. There are new houses to celebrate Tet, the whole family is overjoyed. From now on, we just need to focus on doing business to raise children to study and develop the family economy."

In the spacious house just built, Ms. Lam Thi Su in Long Phu commune (Long Phu district) moved: "My family is difficult, unable to build a house. Thanks to the support of the locality, now, my descendants have a place to reunite on the traditional Tet holiday. This is a very meaningful gift, we will try harder to overcome difficulties."
That joy also came to Duong Dam's family in the town of Hoi Thuong (Tran De district). Mr. Dam said that the difficult family circumstances, rotting houses, the risk of collapse at any time. From the funding of the program to erase the temporary house, the dilapidated house of the locality, he had a place to settle down.
Complete erasing temporary houses before 3 months
According to the Steering Committee of the program to erase the temporary house, the dilapidated house in Soc Trang province, as of April 10, 2025, the whole province has started more than 6,721 houses, of which more than 4,500 units have been completed and handed over.
In particular, the province completed housing support for ethnic minorities before the Tet holiday this year. Particularly for people with meritorious services, they will complete housing support before April 30, 2025.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Soc Trang Province - Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - said: "The province aims to complete the support of construction and repair of 8,673 temporary houses, dilapidated houses before June 30, 2025 3 months earlier than the plan, with a total budget of more than VND 455 billion".
In order to achieve this humane goal, Soc Trang is mobilizing the entire political system, promoting emulation between localities. At the same time, calling on people, businesses and organizations to join hands to contribute in the spirit of "anyone who has contributed".
