On December 27, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced that it had directed the focus on leadership and direction to seriously and effectively implement the task of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and prepare to work with the 5th European Commission Inspection Delegation.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has requested agencies and units that are members of the Provincial IUU Steering Committee to review, verify, and thoroughly handle violations of IUU fishing, disconnecting VMS, sending and transporting VMS equipment, crossing maritime boundaries; brokerage, collusion, and violations of illegal seafood exploitation in foreign waters...; thoroughly handle "3 no" fishing vessels.
Continue to carry out the peak period of law enforcement, patrolling, inspection and control; apply Resolution No. 4 of the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court, prosecute and try cases related to the act of sending fishing vessels and fishermen to illegally exploit in foreign waters; brokering, connecting, sending and transporting VMS equipment in violation of the law; resolutely prevent and not let local fishing vessels and fishermen continue to violate illegal exploitation in foreign waters.
Focus on directing implementation, do not let organizational and apparatus arrangements affect the task of combating IUU fishing, leading to passivity and surprise; prioritize the arrangement, mobilization, and increase of human resources, funding, and equipment for local agencies and functional forces to carry out the task of combating IUU fishing, especially before, during, and after the Lunar New Year.
Resolutely and strictly handle the responsibilities of organizations and individuals who do not fulfill their assigned duties and tasks, assist and condone IUU fishing, affecting the common efforts to remove the "Yellow Card" warning of the whole country...
