Lang Son - The Provincial People's Committee said it will resolutely handle the responsibility of local leaders when illegal mineral exploitation occurs.

Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has just issued a document directing to promote the implementation of state management of minerals in the province.

Accordingly, it is required that relevant departments, branches, sectors, and People's Committees of districts and cities strengthen inspection, supervision, and application of science and technology in the management of mineral exploitation in areas and mine locations, ensuring the correct elevation, scope, and volume as licensed.

In particular, closely coordinate with localities with minerals in border areas in implementing coordination regulations in management, inspection, and handling of violations in mineral activities, to prevent illegal mineral exploitation in border areas, especially river sand and gravel.

It is strictly forbidden to take advantage of mineral exploitation licensing, dredging, and waterway clearance to illegally exploit minerals.

Authorities will resolutely handle the responsibility of local government leaders, especially at the commune level, when illegal mineral exploitation continues for a long time, causing serious consequences.

The Provincial People's Committee also requested relevant units to regularly review and consider resolving existing problems and difficulties in site clearance, land lease for mineral activities, cases of slow implementation of basic mine construction, etc. to put mineral exploitation projects into implementation in accordance with the laws on land, minerals, investment and other relevant laws.

Strengthen inspection and examination of the implementation of laws on minerals, land, and environmental protection for mineral exploration, exploitation, and processing projects and handle existing problems and violations according to regulations.
