Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Nguyen Giao Huong - Secretary of the Party Committee of An Ninh commune (Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province) - said that up to now, the Party Committee - People's Committee of the commune has directed forces, means, and machinery to focus on solving and handling the situation of many gathering and burial sites of domestic waste in the area being dumped and burned, causing thick smoke and environmental pollution in recent times.
Accordingly, the forces used excavators and trucks to level, spread lime powder, dig holes to bury the overloaded waste lying exposed on the surface of the landfill, then cover it with sand and soil. The situation of the landfills smoldering and creating smoke from day to day was also thoroughly handled and completely extinguished.
Previously, the Lao Dong electronic newspaper published an article "People in a commune in Thai Binh call for help because of smoke and pollution from the landfill", reflecting the opinions, recommendations, and even calls for help from some residents and voters of An Ninh commune (Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province) about the situation in the commune where there have been and are many gathering and burying sites for household waste, but the waste is not treated according to regulations, most of it is burned in the open, causing thick smoke and a pungent smell, seriously affecting the lives, activities, and health of the people.
The people urgently called for help because they believed that the above situation had been happening for a long time. In the meetings with voters, they had repeatedly reflected and petitioned the commune government, but they had not received any attention or timely direction to resolve the issue.
Immediately after Lao Dong reported, on the same day, November 12, Mr. Nguyen Van Phat - Vice Chairman of Quynh Phu District People's Committee (Thai Binh Province) - signed and issued Document No. 1595/UBND-TNMT directing the Party Committee - People's Committee of An Ninh Commune and heads of relevant units to focus on handling environmental pollution from waste collection and burial sites in An Ninh Commune according to the content reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, with completion date before November 17.
“Next, we will put up signs prohibiting dumping of non-domestic waste and burning of waste at landfills in the area. We also thoroughly instruct and require individuals participating in the local household waste collection team to collect waste in the right place, not to dump it indiscriminately right outside the landfill. All of these contents have been and will continue to be propagated on the commune loudspeaker system to raise awareness of the people and those working in waste collection. This is truly a lesson of the Party Committee - People's Committee of An Ninh commune.
