Many right turn signals appear on red light in the center of Ho Chi Minh City

In order to reduce congestion and improve traffic, Ho Chi Minh City has installed additional right turn signals at many major intersections, especially in the city center.

On the afternoon of January 10, at the intersection of Vo Thi Sau and Hai Ba Trung (District 1), a traffic light pole was equipped with a right turn indicator for motorbikes. This type of light displays a green arrow with a motorbike symbol, allowing vehicles to turn right from Vo Thi Sau Street to Hai Ba Trung Street.

Similarly, at the Dien Bien Phu - Hai Ba Trung intersection (Districts 1 and 3), a new traffic light was also installed for motorbikes to turn right from Dien Bien Phu to Hai Ba Trung. It is noted that this installation has significantly reduced traffic congestion in this area.

Other intersections such as Pasteur - Dien Bien Phu, Dien Bien Phu - Pham Ngoc Thach, Ba Huyen Thanh Quan - Vo Thi Sau... have also had additional traffic lights allowing right turns on red.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport) said that, facing the current traffic congestion at many intersections, the unit has reviewed and proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport deploy right turn signals at 50 intersections across the city.

Currently, the installation of traffic lights (green arrow lights) is being implemented. After completing 50 points, the center will continue to expand the installation at other intersections that meet safety conditions.

Decree 168 on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road traffic order and safety takes effect from the beginning of 2025, and road users' awareness has been raised more than before.

In particular, the situation of not obeying traffic signals such as running red lights, turning right on red lights... has been greatly limited. However, with the high density of vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City, while many roads are narrow, not enough to meet the demand, leading to the situation of vehicles stopping and waiting for a long time, causing traffic jams on the roads.

Allowing right turns at red lights at intersections not only helps people move more conveniently but also reduces traffic congestion, especially during rush hour.

In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center will continue to monitor traffic situations at intersections, review and propose adjustments and additions to traffic lights in accordance with reality, ensuring smooth traffic and safety for people.
