The convoy of 12 cars was part of a route to travel through 3 countries: Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
In this fleet, the most prominent are the 2 Porsche 930 Turbo - the iconic sports car of the German brand, along with many two-door Mercedes-Benz models and some classic pickup trucks. In particular, the focus of attention belongs to the Jaguar E-Type convertible, a car line known as "the most beautiful car model on the planet", once on par with legends such as the Ferrari 250 GTO or Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.
The two Porsche 930 Turbo models have orange-red and cream exterior, combined with a black paint job and a shiny chrome-plated interior. This is a car line produced by Porsche in the 1975-1989 period, belonging to the 911 generation using turbocharging technology. At launch, the 930 Turbo was once considered the fastest model of the company.
In Vietnam, there are currently 6 Porsche 930, outstanding with round headlights, typical " duck" spoilers and the classic style of the 911 series. This model was produced in two stages: 1975-1977 with a 3.0L engine (2,819 units) and 1978-1989 with a 3.3L engine, a total of 18,770 units. The 3.3L engine increases the power to 282 horsepower, maximum torque of 412 Nm, providing powerful performance and the typical sound of the classic Porsche line.
The appearance of the Mekong Rally 2025 convoy in Ho Chi Minh City has attracted the attention of antique car enthusiasts, especially those who love European car lines with collectible values and long history.
