Every Lunar New Year, the image of supercars and luxury sports cars appearing on the streets of major cities becomes more familiar than usual. This phenomenon not only reflects the car hobby of a part of well-off people, but is also associated with psychological, cultural and special living conditions at the beginning of the year.
Tet is considered a rare time of year when many supercar owners can temporarily put aside work and proactively arrange personal schedules. Putting supercars into operation at the beginning of the year therefore has the meaning of enjoying the fruits of labor and creating a favorable start to the new cycle. In Asian beliefs, the "one starts and one finishes" factor still has a certain impact on consumer behavior and daily life, especially with valuable assets.
From a technical and operational perspective, car service units record the need to prepare vehicles in advance. Mr. Le Hoang Trung, owner of a service garage in Tan Hung ward (HCMC), said: "Overall, Tet is a condition for everyone to organize long trips after a long time. Especially, for supercar enthusiasts, they want to drive themselves, instead of booking air tickets like everyone else. Therefore, the number of supercars we receive for maintenance and modification during Tet is quite large, in order to optimize operational capabilities with owners in upcoming long trips.
Besides the operating factor, the need for formal car care before Tet is also recognized. Many garages in Hanoi said that luxury cars and supercars are often renewed in the interior and exterior before the beginning of the year, from car washing, polishing to detailed care, with the concept of "beautifying cars to welcome the new year".
In addition, the need for socializing is also one of the reasons why supercars appear more during Tet. Spring trips and meetings with friends and partners at the beginning of the year create conditions for people with a common passion for sports cars to connect and share their hobby. For them, supercars are not only a means of transportation but also a factor in connecting the community.
Traffic conditions during Tet also contribute to promoting this trend. In the first days of the year, the density of vehicles in major cities usually decreases, roads are more clear, suitable for operating low-chassis, high-capacity vehicles. This is a practical factor that makes many car owners feel secure when "awakening" supercars after a long period of little use.
Synthesizing the factors of psychology, culture, communication needs and operating conditions shows that supercars taking to the streets during Tet are not simply ostentatious. That is a cyclical lifestyle of car enthusiasts, reflecting how they enjoy their hobby and marking a new beginning of the year.
