The Audi A5 model has officially replaced the Audi A4 in Audi's compact sedan line in mid-2025. The new model has a starting price of 48,995 USD, including a transportation fee of 1,295 USD, 3,600 USD higher than the price of the Audi A4.
However, the new A5 model is $2,400 cheaper than the 2024 sedan A5 Sportback. Therefore, the company believes that this new model may also replace the 2024 A5 Sportback model.
Like the A4, the new A5 comes with a inline 4-cylinder engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharger and all-wheel drive through a dual-clutch transmission. But instead of 261 horsepower (265 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque, the A5 creates 268 horsepower (272 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). Despite the added power, the new car is still slower than the old car because the acceleration time from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) takes up to 5.6 seconds compared to 5.2 of the A4 model.
In addition to the increase in capacity, the A5 is designed to be 2.6 inches (66 mm) longer and 0.5 inches (13 mm) wider than the A4; the footrest is 2.8 inches wide (71 mm), giving more space inside the cabin.
Up to now, Audi has only revealed the starting price of the car, not the price of the car's versions. Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige versions will be available and higher-end versions will have Audi's new custom digital DRL lighting option and OLED taillights.
