According to Nikkei Asia, the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has discovered additional violations on 7 Toyota car models including: Prius Alpha, Lexus RX, RAV4, Camry , Noah/Voxy, Harrier and Lexus LM.
Of these, 4 models are still being produced and sold on the market: Noah/Voxy, RAV4, Harrier and Lexus LM.
These violations have not been previously announced by Toyota.
Most of the failures were related to testing of parts that were not identical to the production version.
MLIT said that 6/7 of the above car models are certified in other countries and they have warned authorities abroad about this issue.
This is the first time a correction order has been issued directly to Toyota Corporation.
Previously, three manufacturers received error correction requests from MLIT, including Hino Motors in 2022, Daihatsu in January this year and Toyota Industries in February this year. All belong to Toyota Motor Corporation.
Toyota also said that it will seriously overcome MLIT's request and will soon improve the situation.
Previously, in June, Toyota was also suspended from selling 3 car models including Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio and Yaris Cross in Japan due to detection of safety certification violations.
