On the morning of March 17, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT), Ministry of Public Security, said that on March 15, a passenger car recklessly drove, endangering vehicles traveling in the same direction on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway.
The Highway Traffic Police Team No. 6 - Department of Road and Railway Traffic Patrol and Control Guidance, Traffic Police Department (Team 6, Traffic Police Department) quickly conducted verification to clarify the incident.
Accordingly, the incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. on March 15, at Km80 of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway (towards Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet). Driver Vo Doan D.D (34 years old, residing in Long Xuyen, An Giang province) was driving a passenger car (41 seats) with license plate 51B-234.XX traveling in the left lane (the median strip was closed) behind a tractor-trailer running in the same direction, in the same lane.
Although the distance was too close to the tractor-trailer, instead of going behind and waiting for a way to overtake, the driver did not slow down but turned on the right signal light and immediately moved to this lane to avoid a collision.
The sudden squeezing and lane change of passenger bus 51B-234.XX forced the driver of a car traveling in the right lane to rush into the emergency lane to avoid the unfortunate accident.
On March 16, during a working session with the traffic police, driver Vo Doan D.D admitted to the violation, asked to comply with the handling of the authorities and promised not to repeat the offense.
This driver has been recorded for the act of: "Not complying with regulations on safety distance for vehicles running immediately before running on the highway", as stipulated in Point d, Clause 5, Article 6, Decree 168/2024/ND-CP. The fine for this behavior is 5 million VND and 4 points are deducted from the driver's license.
The Highway Traffic Police Team No. 6 - Traffic Police Department recommends that drivers of vehicles when participating in traffic on the highway must comply with regulations on safe distance, change lanes according to regulations, focus attention on observation... to ensure safe traffic.
