The BMW X3 was assembled at the BMW-Brilliance factory in Shenyang, Liuzhou province (China) with adjustments to suit the needs of the Chinese market. The wheelbase is extended by 111 mm. Therefore, the Chinese version is coded G48, while the global version is known as the G45. According to the company, the BMW X3 will start shipping in China in May 2025.
The BMW X3 produced by BMW-Brilliance is similar to the global version in style. The vehicle uses a large kidney-shaped grille with active air intakes, typical headlights and silver accents around the body.
The SUV manufactured in China has dimensions of 4,865 x 1,920 x 1,664 mm (length x width x height) with a wheelbase of 2,975 mm. The interior of the BMW X3 G48 follows the brand's design language with a large curved screen including a 12.3-inch digital clock and a 14.9-inch main touchscreen. The BMW X3 also has a flat-bottleneck 3-wheel steering wheel, with a gear shift in the center control area.
The BMW X3 has 2 powertrain options in China: 25L and 30L. The low-end 25L version uses a 2-liter turbocharged engine for 188 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque combined with xDrive 4WD and 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The G48 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
The second version of the X3 uses a 2-liter engine producing 255 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. This internal combustion engine is also combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The BMW X3 30L's 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 6.6 seconds.
The standard BMW X3 xDrive 25L is equipped with a 19-inch rim, 5 cameras, 12 ultrasound radar, sunroof, heated front seats and 6 speakers. The BMW X3 xDrive 30L M-Sport has an additional electric motor, an M-Sport kit, a 20-inch rim and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon.
The most advanced BMW X3 30L Leading M-Sport version has the same powertrain, 6 cameras, lane change assist, adaptive headlights, sports chairs and information display on the windshield.
According to analysts, although the price of the BMW X3 G48 is quite reasonable, in this segment, there are many new Chinese energy crossover models such as: Li Auto L7, Aito M7, Nio ES6 and Xpeng G9.
