Denza is a high-end brand, born from a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes. Recently, Denza showed its ambition to go further with the Z9 GT sedan, equipped with both PHEV and pure electric versions. The Z9 GT belongs to the long-wheelbase line, a mix of 4-door coupe and wagon, similar to the Zeekr 001 and Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo, with performance and technology equal to or even superior.
Denza has also produced high-performance PHEVs with BYD’s 483-horsepower DM-p setup. However, the Z9 GT takes things to the next level. The PHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that acts as a generator to power three electric motors (the latter two of which produce up to 870 horsepower).
According to the company, the Z9 GT has an electric-only operating range of 201 km, bringing the total travel distance up to 1,100 km when using combined fuel.
The pure electric version of the Z9 GT is equipped with 3 motors and no gasoline engine. The car has a capacity of 950 horsepower, 710 Nm of torque with an acceleration time of 0-100 km / h in just 3.4 seconds. The 100 kWh battery allows the car to travel a distance of about 630 km according to CLTC standards.
The Z9 GT is equipped with a 2-chamber air suspension system that can change the chassis from 105-155mm. With a rear-wheel steering system with a steering angle of up to 20 degrees, it will help shorten the turning radius to only 4.62m. With this design, the car can almost go sideways at a maximum angle of 15 degrees, similar to the GMC Hummer EV.
The Z9 GT's exterior is low and streamlined with a sweeping roofline. The Z9 GT is 5,180mm long and 1,990mm wide (217mm longer and 24mm wider than the Taycan Sport Turismo). With a 3,125mm wheelbase, the Z9 GT is 225mm longer than the German model.
The interior of the Z9 GT features an expansive dashboard design, which is typical of recent Chinese models. In addition to the GT, the Z9 will be available in a sedan version at a later date. The Z9 could serve as a way to attract customers to the European market for high-performance luxury electric vehicles.
Currently, customers in China can pre-order the Denza Z9 GT model with prices ranging from 47,900-59,200 USD (about 1 billion 177 million - 1 billion 455 million).
