Despite natural disasters, tourism in the Central region still grows

Central tourism, especially Hue and Da Nang, has recorded impressive growth figures in November 2025 - the time of many storms and floods.

In November 2025, the Central region will continuously suffer from prolonged heavy rains, bad weather will clearly affect outdoor activities, especially sea tourism.

However, contrary to the often pessimistic predictions of each rainy and stormy season, the tourism industry in Hue and Da Nang not only does not decline but also grows strongly.

The published figures show the increasingly resilient tourism industry of the two localities, while reflecting the shift in the Central region's tourism development model - from seasonally dependent to four-season destination.

In Hue, November recorded a 5.6% increase in visitors compared to the previous month and increased by 63% over the same period. This is an unusual increase in the context of storms and floods, but it is reasonable if looking at the structure of Hue's tourism products.

Hue City is already rich in heritage, culture, cuisine, indoor experience programs and night tourism - types that depend little on the weather.

Even the rainy season has become a part of the "Hue atmosphere", creating a unique feeling for visitors through visits to the palace in the mist, enjoying tea, reading books or the fragrant Hoang Dai nights.

It can be said that Hue has taken the first steps in the journey to build a "rain tourism season", turning disadvantages into cultural characteristics.

Meanwhile, Da Nang - a locality more affected by storms - still maintains its growth momentum thanks to a rich service ecosystem. Revenue from accommodation and catering services in November reached VND 4,037 billion, up 20% over the same period in 2024.

Notably, the number of overnight guests reached 1.136 million, of which international visitors accounted for 606,000, a sharp increase of 23.2%.

Although some sea activities and outdoor experiences have been interrupted, Da Nang still retains tourists thanks to a series of events - festivals taking place continuously throughout the year, especially the program "enjoying Da Nang - Many new experiences".

This shows that tourists coming to Da Nang are not only for the sea, but also for cuisine, shopping, entertainment, art and rich urban activities.

The growth of Hue and Da Nang in adverse weather conditions says many things.

Firstly, the tourism industry of the two localities has escaped the previous model of dependence on the sunny season. Instead of waiting for peak months, tourism activities have spread evenly all year round thanks to diverse products, suitable for each season.

Secondly, this reflects the initiative in destination management - from weather forecasts, ensuring safety for tourists to service recovery after natural disasters - all of which are carried out quickly and professionally, strengthening the trust of tourists.

Third, the strong growth of international visitors becomes an important driving force to help the tourism industry of these two cities not fall into a situation of stagnation during the rainy season like in previous years.

The lesson learned from the tourism growth of Hue and Da Nang in November 2025 - the time of continuous storms and floods - is clear: the Central region, especially Hue, to develop sustainable tourism, must build a four-season product.

In the context of frequent natural disasters, indoor activities, night services, festivals - arts, healing tourism and shopping need to be invested heavily.

In addition, international visitors need to be considered a strategic market, because they are less affected by short-term weather changes.

Finally, destination management, from safety, communication to service quality... must be placed on par with infrastructure investment and promotion.

Hue and Da Nang have proven that tourism in the Central region can completely grow during the rainy and stormy season if they know how to get in the right direction.

When products are diversified, events are held all year round and visitors are guaranteed safety, the weather will no longer be a major barrier.

This is the foundation to form destinations with the vitality of four seasons, enough courage to overcome fluctuations and enough appeal to retain tourists even on sunny days.
