On November 12, the Office of the People's Committee of Lang Son province informed that the Provincial People's Committee has just issued instructions related to the operation of the Trade Center - Dong Dang Market (Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district).
Document No. 6196 clearly states that Dong Dang Market - Trade Center was put into use at the end of 2016. However, its operations encountered many difficulties, business was not effective, especially a number of civil disputes arose between business households and Dong Dang Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company, this issue has been reported by the press.
To assess the overall situation of operations and have solutions to support the removal of difficulties and obstacles, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee Doan Thanh Son gave the following instructions:
The Department of Industry and Trade shall preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Cao Loc district and relevant agencies to grasp the operation situation of Dong Dang Trade Center - Market, especially the difficulties and obstacles, and propose solutions to support and resolve them; propose and report to the Provincial People's Committee no later than November 22.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article reflecting on the Dong Dang Trade Center - Market closing early after a period of operation.
According to the reporter's investigation, Dong Dang Trade Center - Market (located in Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district) started construction in September 2014 and came into operation in 2016 on an area of over 5.7 hectares. With a total investment of over 300 billion VND, at that time, the project was considered the largest trade center model in border localities.
The highlight of the complex is the main building, built on 3 floors with more than 800 stalls. It is expected that all businesses from Dong Dang traditional market (also known as the old market, about 1km away) will be moved here to do business and trade.
The then Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, once affirmed that Dong Dang Trade Center - Market is only about 1km from the old market, in a convenient location, so people do not need to worry too much about the change...
That was the expectation, but now the imposing 3-storey building in a prime location is abandoned and closed. Businesses either quit or returned to the old market. The rest moved to the corrugated iron market next door, located within the project area.
