On April 24, the Department of Health of Cao Bang province informed that on the afternoon of April 23, Hoa An District Medical Center received emergency care for many students of Nuoc Hai Primary School, who were hospitalized with stomach aches, nausea, and hives.
Initial information, early in the afternoon class, some students showed symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea and hives on their bodies. Immediately afterwards, the school's Board of Directors and teachers took the students to the hospital.
Doctor CKI Doan Thi Nga (Department of Emergency - Intensive Care and Anti-Poison - Artificial Nephrology) said that the hospital received the first case at around 1:30 p.m., after which many children studying at school were taken to the hospital.
They have almost identical clinical symptoms such as abdominal pain and nausea, many of whom have hives on their bodies. By 2:30 p.m. the same day, 27 students were hospitalized, of which 21 students were in class 5B, 5 students were in class 2C and 1 student was in class 2B.
Immediately after the incident, a working group of the Department of Health was present, directing the Provincial Center for Disease Control and the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene to conduct an epidemiological investigation, take water samples and food; send doctors from the Department of Pediatrics - Cao Bang General Hospital to support at the Hoa An District Medical Center.
Through initial review, the water source used at Nuoc Hai Primary School is the tap water used in the whole area, students use bottled drinking water, food at the dining table with full origin, the kitchen area is not found to be unsanitary.
After working with the Hoa An District Medical Center and related parties, the Department of Health leaders determined that there was not enough basis to determine that these cases were hospitalized due to food poisoning, the causes are still being investigated and conducted in-depth tests.
